1989’s Grande Arche de la Défense, Paris
Today I’m unveiling my biggest project yet: the Grande Arche de la Défense!
Inaugurated in 1989, it’s an iconic landmark in the La Défense business district of Paris.
Designed by architect Otto Frei, it’s aligned with the historical axis of Paris, perfectly complementing the Arc de Triomphe. Its monumental, hollow cube shape symbolizes an arch open to the world and human rights. The architecture is distinguished by its massive proportions, clean lines, and the use of light-colored materials.
The vast central void creates a spectacular space, both monumental and airy. A true urban landmark, the Grande Arche has become a powerful symbol of contemporary French architecture.
