Bartlett Building: Renaissance Hotel v1.3
Information
The Bartlett Building in Ohio is an historic early skyscraper located in downtown Cincinnati. Built in 1901 and designed by architect Daniel Burnham, it is a 19-storey Neoclassical building that was once the tallest in the state for a short period. Today, it has been restored and repurposed as the Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel, combining its original grand architectural style with modern use.
Its design reflects the Neoclassical style, with a strong vertical emphasis, ornate detailing, and a tripartite structure typical of early high-rise architecture—dividing the façade into a base, shaft, and decorative crown.
The Bartlett Building remains an important architectural landmark, illustrating the transition from traditional masonry construction to the early steel-frame skyscrapers that defined modern city skylines.
