Cities Skylines 2: Zones & Signature Buildings
Welcome back to the Cities: Skylines II development diaries! In this installment, we’ll be discussing the zoning system, highlighting what’s new and familiar in comparison to the original Cities: Skylines. One feature to note is the introduction of signature buildings, which add a unique touch to the city and are a hybrid between unique and zoned structures. We will delve into further detail on how to acquire these buildings and the benefits they bring to your city in a later section.
Zoning is a fundamental element of city-building games – roads form the infrastructure and zones make up the bulk of the city, creating suburban neighborhoods, towering office buildings, busy commercial districts, and smokestack-spewing industrial parks. Each zone requires different elements to flourish, and they all benefit from each other. For instance, factories need efficient transportation to ship products while companies and businesses require motivated employees and bustling foot traffic. Employees in turn need homes, entertainment, and shopping opportunities to improve their quality of life.
